SENSEI KEITH SANDEFER

Bio

Keith Sandefer | キース・サンデファー
Keith Sandefer Sensei’s first introduction into martial arts began in 1983 with Sensei Takao Nakaya, achieving the rank of 1st-KYU. Unfortunately, after receiving this rank there was a pause in Keith’s pursuit of martial arts. Family, work, and travel took over most of his time until finally in 2005 he rediscovered his passion and started training at the Holtum School of Martial Arts in Plano, Texas.

Keith was awarded his Shodan (1st dan) on December 2009 in Tae Kwon Do, but after receiving this rank he felt there was something missing in his training. He missed the traditional ways- the focus on technique, the history, and the katas. He finally understood. With this new found wisdom he made his way to the Okinawan Karate School of Dallas in 2010, and has been there ever since. Keith Sensei currently hold the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in both Shorin Ryu and Shudokan Karate.
